In 2006 the founder of LACES left the lake front of Chicago for the shores of Liberia, West Africa, to live in a 10x10 room with 3 other girls for 6 months aboard a floating hospital ship. Now, almost five years later, the organization has grown to 12 staff members, trained 110 coaches in how to mentor children through sports, and have mentored over 600 children. L.A.C.E.S. efforts are to break the cycle of neglect and to promote integrity among the future leaders of communities and nations. L.A.C.E.S. provides children an opportunity to grow, develop and build their future potential!
