The HIV/AIDS Nursing Certification Board is a national, nonprofit, professional organization whose goals are: To improve the quality of HIV/AIDS nursing care and prevention; To promote competency of nurses caring for persons with HIV/AIDS; and To recognize this professional achievement through a certification and recertification process.
HANCB came to nHarmony with an aging web design that did not allow them as much control as they wanted over their website content. They needed a practice exam for those who were preparing for certification. Additionally, HANCB wanted to offer an online version of their application process for the ACRN and AACRN certifications.
nHarmony worked with the team at HANCB to create a web design that would appeal to their client base of nurses and other people seeking careers working with HIV patients. The design uses a cool shade of blue often found in the medical industry, along with a splash of bright red which is used to promote HIV and AIDS awareness. The home page is targeted directly at those seeking certification or recertification, by putting the buttons right up front and easily accessible.
The website is built in nHarmony's own content management system, allowing the HANCB team to update any page as frequently as desired. nHarmony has a mature online testing tool that was used to quickly build the practice exam. There are four special pages dedicated to the application process, and these were custom built forms with verification systems built in to catch mis-typed information or spam. They are linked to a payment processor, so the application fee can be paid online, or the user may opt to mail a check.
HANCB gave nHarmony a basic list of terms they thought people would be searching for in order to find them. We then took that list and did our own research to come up with keyphrases that we thought would bring the most desired traffic. They are ranked well in search engines for these terms, and have seen steady increases in traffic flow to the website.
